New Federal Tax Law Can Help Environmental Groups Protect Water, Land and Habitats

Take advantage of a newly enacted federal tax law and help the Conservancy to protect water, land and habitats in Pennsylvania by supporting nonprofit environmental groups.

The recent Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 extended the IRA Charitable Rollover to allow individuals aged 70 ½ or older to donate tax-free gifts of up to $100,000 from their IRA accounts directly to qualified charities such as watershed groups, land trusts and conservancies.

These contributions count towards the donor’s mandatory IRA withdrawal amount but do not increase adjusted gross income.

Effective for the 2008 and 2009 tax years, this is a great option for IRA account-holders who want to make a gift to environmental groups from their retirement assets but have been concerned about incurring taxes.

You areencouraged to consult your financial advisor and/or IRA administrator to determine if this opportunity is right for you.
