Delaware Riverkeeper Network, Aquarius Spring Partner For July 18, 25 Cleanups
The Delaware Riverkeeper Networki s partnering with Aquarius Spring! to plan volunteer-based litter clean-ups along the Delaware River waterfront. The targeted locations and dates in our area are: Fish Hatcheries,Northeast Philadelphia on July 18 and the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, Philadelphia on July 25

The group is hoping to recruit between 50-75 volunteers for each clean-up. Each clean-up is expected to last 3 hours. All volunteers will be asked to wear long sleeved shirt, long pants, water proofed heavy boots, insect repellant, a hat and work gloves. Additional work gloves will be available on site. All trash will be bagged and discarded in a dumpster.

Each site has been closely scouted by Delaware Riverkeeper Network staff for appropriateness for volunteer activities. There will be on-site supervisors for each work site to ensure volunteer safety. A safety instruction, including picking up broken glass, lifting heavy items, poison ivy and other potential hazards. Each site will have a fully-stocked first aid kit and each is well-known sites in the unlikely event that emergency response is needed.

Aquarius Spring! Partnership

Aquarius Spring! natural spring water is on a mission this summer to promote watershed conservation and encourage people to take action in their local communities. The brand is providing $500,000 in grants to community watershed organizations to facilitate consumer education and clean-up events at watersheds in 10 markets.

The centerpiece of the 20-week Aquarius Spring! summer tour is a specially designed, interactive, vegetable-oil powered bus that will visit select retail stores to invite local residents to participate in the watershed clean-up events taking place in each market.

"The Aquarius Spring summer mobile tour is inspiring local residents to take an active role in water conservation in their communities," said Sally Bethea, executive director of Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, one of the first tour stops. "Beyond the clean up events the partnership grants will help provide opportunities throughout the year for community involvement in healthy watersheds."

The first stop on the Aquarius summer tour will be June 13 in Atlanta during the "Back to the Chattahoochee River Race & Festival," followed by events in New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boise, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Tampa, Charlotte and Raleigh.
