PA Resources Council Offers Rain Barrel, Composting, Invasive Species Workshops In Fall
The PA Resources Council is offering a series of workshops in the fall on backyard and worm composting, rain barrels and controlling invasive plants.

All workshops will be held at the PRC's Environmental Living Center, 3606 Providence Rd., Newtown Square, Pa in Ridley Creek State Park.

Backyard Composting Workshop:
Turn your yard waste and food scraps into a valuable resource for your garden! This workshop covers the importance of composting, setting up a compost pile, proper maintenance and ways of using finished compost. Each participant or couple will receive an Earth Machine Compost Bin with attendance. Cost: $35 per person/$45 per couple. August 25 at 7 p.m., September 22 at 7 p.m. and October 15 at 6 p.m.

Worm Composting Workshop:
Learn about the benefits of composting with worms. It’s easy, fun, odorless and produces a great soil additive! Class participants will learn how to house, feed, harvest and care for their own worms. Each participant or couple will be provided with a bin, instructions, and worms. You will go home with a complete, ready to use vermiculture system! Cost: $35 per person/$45 per couple. September 10 at 7 p.m., October 20 at 6 p.m. and November 17 at 6 p.m.

Rain Barrel Workshop:
Learn how to harvest rainwater from your roof and divert it for on-site usage in the landscape. Attend a rain barrel workshop and return home equipped(with everything except the 55-gal. drum)to assemble a rain barrel. It’s easier than you might think! Recycled barrels are also now available for purchase. Cost: $35 per person/$40 per couple. September 17 at 7 p.m. and October 8 at 6 p.m.

Controlling Invasive Plants Workshop:
Come to PRC’s Controlling Invasive Plants workshop for tips on how to destroy the weeds without destroying the planet. The class includes information on how to identify invasive plants before they grow and spread, and lays out a comprehensive approach to controlling invasive plants without relying on chemicals. Cost: $25 per person/$35 per couple. September 29 at 7 p.m., October 27 at 6 p.m. and November 19 at 7 p.m.
