Energy Conservation Plans Approved For Remaining Electric Utilities
The Public Utility Commission this week approved an energy efficiency and conservation plans as required by Act 129 of 2008 for Metropolitan Edison Co., Pennsylvania Electric Co., Pennsylvania Power Co. and Duquesne Light in Pennsylvania.

Met-Ed, Penn Power, PA Electric

The plans for Met-Ed, Penn Power and PA Electric include a residential: home energy audit program, appliance turn-in program, HVAC program, energy efficiency products, whole building program; and direct load control program.

The plans also include various programs for commercial, industrial, government and non-profit customers to increase energy efficiency and conservation efforts.

Duquesne Light

The plan for Duquesne Light includes a residential: energy efficiency rebate program, school energy pledge program, refrigerator recycling program, air conditioning cycling program; and low-income energy efficiency program.

The Commission also will convene working groups composed of company representatives, consumer advocates, community-based organizations and other interested parties to address some issues surrounding low-income consumers and clarify other matters affecting the annual reconciliation process. According to the plan, the company also must meet with stakeholders semi-annually until May 31, 2013 to discuss the implementation of the plan.
