House (January 5): House Bill 80 (Vitali-D-Delaware) expanding the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards and authorizing a carbon sequestration network.

Senate (January 5): House Bill 1609 (Freedom-D-Lehigh) further providing for the definition of traditional neighborhood within the Municipalities Planning Code. 

Committees 

No activity this week due to Christmas/New Year holidays. 

Bills Introduced 

The following bills of interest were introduced this week-- 

Mineral Leasing: Senate Bill 1159 (D.White-R-Indiana) establishing the Indigenous Mineral Resources Development Act giving the Department of General Services the authority to make and execute contracts or leases for the mining or removal of any valuable mineral resource found on state lands or under the waters of the Commonwealth with the proceeds to be deposited into the Environmental Stewardship Fund. 

Chesapeake Bay Cleanup Cost: Senate Resolution 215 (Brubaker-R-Lancaster) directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to study the costs to achieve the Chesapeake Bay Program nutrient load reductions required by agricultural sources and to evaluate funding strategies.

Landowner Liability:
House Bill 2180 (Hanna-D-Clinton) further limiting the liability of landowners opening their property for recreation.

Oil & Gas Permit Notice:
House Bill 2183 (Conklin-D-Mifflin) providing for additional notice of oil and gas well permits and House Bill 2184 (Conklin) amending the Oil and Gas Conservation Law to provide additional notice of applications.
