Video Blog- CREP Program Promotes Forested Buffers, More Landowner Sign-Ups Needed

David Wise, PA Watershed Restoration Manager with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, talks about the value of forested stream buffers and how the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program can pay for 100 percent of the cost of installing buffers and pay an annual rental payment.
Although farmers and any landowner can participate in the CREP Program and install a buffer, sign-ups have dropped off recently in Pennsylvania just at the time Pennsylvania has committed to develop 19,000 more acres of forested buffers between now and the end of 2011.
Wise notes the CREP program created 24,000 acres of forested buffers in Pennsylvania since 2000 when it first started.
Watch this video and learn more about the program and the value of forested stream buffers.
