April 16 Nutrient Trading In Pennsylvania Conference, Webinar

The PA Association of Conservation Districts and the departments of Agriculture and Environmental Protection will sponsor a one-day Nutrient Trading in Pennsylvania Conference and webinar on April 16 starting at 10:00. The conference will be held in the Brosman Ballroom of the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown. Onsite participation is limited to 55 participants.
Participants will get an explanation of Pennsylvania's nutrient trading program, along with a discussion on pioneering agricultural technologies and the importance these innovations have on the agricultural community.
A panel of conservation district representatives will explore conservation district involvement and the positive impacts districts can have at the local level working one-on-one with the agriculture community. After a discussion relating Pennsylvania's programs to the Chesapeake Bay Restoration efforts, a roundtable discussion will be held.
Following the morning session, participations can join a field tour of three sites in Lancaster County to view actual on the ground innovation. Those sites include the Masonic Village property, where the floodplain was reconnected and legacy sediments were removed. An anaerobic methane digester was installed on a second site to generate energy, reduce odors and were party to one of the first nutrient trading program contracts. The third site is a farm that utilizes an innovative technology to render hog manure orderless while also reating measurable nutrient reductions.

-- 11:15-- Roundtable Discussion, John Hines, Moderator.
