Wildlands Conservancy Receives Excellence In Programming Award

Wildlands Conservancy’s Bike & Boat program received an Excellence in Programming award in the category of Environmental Education at the annual Pennsylvania Recreation & Parks Society conference in Seven Springs.
The award recognizes programs that demonstrate outstanding quality, innovation and community support for an environmentally based educational or interpretive program offered to the public or to a specific target group.
Wildlands Conservancy’s Bike & Boat program provides a firsthand experience with the Lehigh River through guided and educational biking and canoeing trips.  In its 11th year, the program has reached more than 25,000 residents – mostly children who are experiencing nature for the first time.
“Connecting people, especially our youth, to our natural resources is vital to the future sustainability of our region,” says Christopher M. Kocher, president, Wildlands Conservancy, “it is always a great honor to be recognized by our peers for our important conservation work.”
