DEP Increases Remining Incentive Financial Guarantees
|
|
The Department of Environmental Protection this week gave notice it is increasing the funds available under the Remining Financial Guarantee Program to $1.2 million for mine operators willing to reclaim abandoned mine lands adjacent to their active mining operations.
Since it was created in 1997 with an initial $800,000 appropriation, the program has helped reclaim 2,927 acres of abandoned mine land with a value of $17.5 million.
