EPA: Commonwealth Ranks 5th In Green Power Usage

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released its list of the top 50 partner organizations using the most renewable electricity to help reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions and protect people’s health.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ranked fifth on the list with an annual consumption of 500 million kwh of green power use, 50 percent of total usage.
Green power is generated from renewable resources such as solar, wind, geothermal, biogas, biomass, and low-impact hydropower. Purchases of green power help accelerate the nation’s voluntary green power market and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful pollutants that threaten Americans’ health from the power sector.
Also on the list is: BNY Mellon (17th), University of Pennsylvania (19), Carnegie Mellon University (46), Drexel University (48) and Pennsylvania State University (49).
The complete list is available online.
