An Advocate for Clean Air: Marking the Passing of Ann L. Meyers

It is my sad task to let you know that Ann Meyers, 47, of Ann Meyers Public Relations, died from an unexpected illness on November 20 in Lancaster. Many people involved in environmental issues will remember her as being part of the team that built the Ozone Action Programs in Pennsylvania.

Ann worked on clean air issues not only in Pennsylvania, but in Maryland and the entire Northeast. She was a frequent expert speaker on public relations and ozone issues at national conferences.

She wasn’t your typical “PR” person. She threw 110 percent of her effort into educating the public about clean air issues, and even her family. At one Lancaster event her then 14-year old son “volunteered” to dress up in the Coach Ozone costume for the TV cameras.

Her roots go deep in Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Thiel College and even served as the Pennsylvania Maple Queen representing the state’s maple industry at statewide functions.

Ann and her husband Howard Kelin have four children and just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in August.

Her energy, enthusiasm and expertise will be missed.
