Hundreds of creative, colorful posters were received from school students throughout southwestern PA for "Let's Clear the Air," a poster contest with an emphasis on public awareness and education about air quality and alternative transportation.

          Four winners were chosen in three categories. First place winners received a bicycle donated by Trek Pittsburgh and a $100 gift card for their teacher! All winners received a magic show for their school.  The winners include:
-- Alivia Aciero, Grade 5, Tenth Street Elementary, Allegheny County;
-- Melanie Long, Grade 7, St. Sylvester, Allegheny County;
-- Jacob Kopko, Grade 4, Avella Elementary School, Washington County;
-- Kerrigan Sebastian, Grade 6, Tenth Street Elementary, Allegheny;
-- Christopher Mannella, Grade 5, Immaculate Conception, Allegheny;
-- Gretchen Stough, His Kids Christian Middle School, Butler County;
-- Madison Claypool, Grade 4, Trinity Christian School, Allegheny County; and
-- Rosemary Nagy, Grade 7, Geibel Cathollic Middle School, Fayette County.
            The contest was a  collaboration between the Southwest PA Air Quality Partnership and Pennsylvania Resources Council. It encouraged students to learn about the effects of air pollution, how to avoid exposure and what actions they can take to help improve air quality.
            Congratulations to all of the students for their terrific posters and commitment to making the air healthier to breathe for everyone! Click Here to view the winning posters.
