Business Leaders Urge Governor, General Assembly To Finish Work On Marcellus Shale Bill

The Tribune Review reported Friday four state business organizations sent a letter to Gov. Corbett and leaders in the Senate and House urging them to agree on Marcellus Shale legislation and adopt a competitive drilling impact fee.
The groups included the PA Chamber of Business and Industry, Pennsylvania Business Council, Allegheny Conference for Community Development and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
"Environmental, safety, health, labor transportation, taxation and impact fee policies must be standardized and made consistent across all municipal jurisdictions in the Commonwealth without local variation or uneven enforcement," the letter read. "We recognize the powers of municipal governments in land use planning and zoning, and support legislation that sets out clear, statewide, uniform standards reserving to our local governments their relevant zoning powers."
