Lt. Gov. Cawley Earns National Award For Energy, Environmental Leadership

Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley Thursday received the 2012 Public Leadership in Energy and Environmental Stewardship Award from General Electric in partnership with the National Lieutenant Governors Association.
Cawley received the award in recognition of his efforts leading Gov. Tom Corbett's Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission, which laid the groundwork for an historic new law providing for the responsible development of natural gas in the state.
"Lt. Gov. Cawley has been the driving force to enable the shale gas revolution in Pennsylvania. He has been at the forefront of bringing jobs and economic development to his state, while ensuring natural gas is developed in a safe, responsible, sustainable way," said Paul Doucette, head of Public Policy and External Funding for GE, who presented the award to Cawley.
"I am honored to be recognized by my peers and by GE with this award. I humbly accept this recognition on behalf of Gov. Corbett, our cabinet and the rest of our team who worked so hard on Marcellus Shale policy. I truly believe Pennsylvanians and all Americans will continue to benefit from our work today for generations to come," said Cawley.
"The goal of this bi-partisan, recognition process is to identify up-and-coming leaders committed to effectively tackling the current and future challenges of our nation. By recognizing Lt. Gov. Cawley and his accomplishments in Pennsylvania, we hope to bring new ideas to other states," said Julia Hurst, NLGA executive director.
Lt. Gov. Cawley accepted the award during the annual NLGA Federal-State Relations meeting held in Washington, D.C.
