NRCS Protects 2,500 Acres Of Pennsylvania Farmland In 2012

Denise Coleman, Natural Resources Conservation Service State Conservationist, reports that NRCS has protected 2,500 acres of Pennsylvania farmland in fiscal year 2012.

NRCS provided nearly $4 million to protect Pennsylvania’s agricultural land and keep it productive through its voluntary Farm and Ranch Land Protection Program.

Through FRPP, NRCS works with the Department of Agriculture, local governments, and non-governmental organizations to provide matching funds to help purchase easements or other interests in land to protect agricultural use.

FRPP was established in 1996. Since then, NRCS has provided $24 million to help protect 47,000 acres of Pennsylvania farmland!
