Aquatic Invasive Species Field Guide For PA Now Available

The PA Sea Grant Program now has available the Aquatic Invasive Species Field Guide for Pennsylvania designed to help identify new AIS infestations, and to help slow or stop their spread in Pennsylvania.

It includes the following sections: tips on how to use the guide, how to prevent the spread of AIS, and how to properly collect and report specimens.

The more than 50 species profiles highlight important characteristics to distinguish AIS from other species. Profiles are separated by taxa and include: aquatic and facultative plants, invertebrates, fish, pathogens, algae, and reptiles/amphibians.

The field guide is available on the PA Sea Grant website where it can be downloaded for free.

Limited hard copies will soon be available for purchase or you can request a free high resolution printable PDF. Contact Sara Grise by sending email to: invasivespecies@psu.edu or call at 814-217-9020.
