Gov. Tom Ridge: Climate Change Is National Security Risk

The Harrisburg Patriot News Monday reported former Gov. Tom Ridge (R) joined 37 prominent political figures at the U.S. Capitol Monday calling for policymakers to figure climate change into national security strategy and budget considerations.

“The U.S. national security community, including leaders from the military, homeland security, and intelligence, understand that climate change is a national security threat,” Gov. Ridge said.  “They're not talking about whether or not it is occurring – it is. They're talking about addressing the problem and protecting the American people. It's time Washington does the same.”

Gov. Ridge andd 37 other security experts signed on to a joint letter urging action on international climate change initiatives.
