DCNR Deputy Secretary for Parks and Forestry Ellen Ferretti will serve as the acting secretary of the department following the resignation of Rick Allan June 13.

“My responsibilities with DCNR have taken me to many parks and forests throughout the state, and I’ve learned how integral the department is to the people and communities where we work,” Ferretti said. “DCNR’s strength is its employees, and I know that together we can continue to be one of the best conservation agencies in the nation.”

Ferretti has served as deputy secretary since June 2011.

She also served as the vice president of the northeast regional office of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council; director of Environmental Resources at Borton-Lawson Engineering; project manager at Westinghouse Environmental and Geotechnical Services, Inc.; and was a former board member of North Branch Land Trust.

Ferretti earned a B.S. in Environmental Science/Biology from Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre.
