Electric Utilities, Industry Provides PUC Updates On Summer Electric Reliability

The Public Utility Commission Tuesday released the Summer Reliability reports from the state’s 11 electric distribution companies and other industry representatives.

The reports provide the EDCs’ preparations and plans for various conditions such as severe storms and high temperatures that may affect electric supply, price and service reliability for the summer months.

“With the Commission’s responsibilities of safeguarding electric utility service for Pennsylvanians, these updates provide a look at how prepared the industry is for the high energy use associated with summer,” said Chairman Robert F. Powelson.

The reports focus on the following: reliability enhancement programs, preventive maintenance programs, capacity planning and 2012 storms and the lessons learned from them.
