Sen. Ted Erickson Will Not Seek Re-Election In 2014

Sen. Ted Erickson (R-Delaware) announced Friday he will not be seeking re-election next year and will retire after serving 13 years in the Senate.. 

He first came to the Senate in 2001 after a successful career as U.S. Environmental Protection Region III Administrator and Executive Director and member of County Council in Delaware County. 

He serves as Chair of the Senate Republican Policy Committee and vice-chair of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee.  He is also a member of the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensue, Law and Justice and Public Health and Welfare Committees.

During his tenure in the Senate, Sen. Erickson sponsored environmental and energy legislation on many topics which were signed into law including: Senate Bill 351 to improve stormwater management, Senate Bill 263 ensuring state environmental regulations are based on reliable data and sound science and Senate Bill 266 directing DEP to develop a Climate Change Action Plan.  In addition, he has been an advocate for renewable energy and for the adoption of a severance tax on Marcellus Shale natural gas production.

In addition to Sen. Erickson, Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-Lancaster) and Sen. Mike Waugh (R-York) have announced they are not seeking re-election next year.
