Agriculture, Energy Industries Hold Forum On PA Natural Gas Development

The Keystone Energy Forum, in partnership with PennAg Industries Association & the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania Thursday held its third annual “Agricultural Forum” focusing on natural gas development and its interaction with Pennsylvania's agricultural community.

The 2014 forum focused on the collaboration between the agriculture and energy industries as they work in a partnership to co-exist and grow in Pennsylvania.

“Communication between the agriculture and energy industries is critical as they look to work together and grow during a critical time for our state and national economy," said Bill Stewart, Director of the Keystone Energy Forum. "Today's forum allowed for an update from both industries and direct communication between key leaders on important issues facing each group."

The Keystone Energy Agriculture Forum took place in Harrisburg in conjunction with the 2014 Pennsylvania Farm Show. The forum included open discussions focusing on natural gas and agriculture development and how each can partner together into the future.

“Pennsylvania is focused on protecting our natural resources for generations and generations to come," said Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Chris Abruzzo. "While this protection is paramount, the collaboration and communication between energy and agriculture industries is critical and allows our commonwealth to have a framework to protect our environment and enable both industries to grow."

The program is part of an ongoing series of forums hosted by the Keystone Energy Forum in concert with coalition groups from across Pennsylvania. In 2011, 2012, 2013 the Keystone Energy Forum hosted educational forums on Housing, Outdoor Life , Economic Development, Pennsylvania's Energy Portfolio and Pipelines.

"The Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania knows that communication and cooperation with other industries often helps our members better understand their needs. Today's gathering gave our coalition a better look at energy development in 2014 and how that development could lower costs and allow our members to produce more into the future," concluded Alan Novak, Executive Director of the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania.

The Keystone Energy Forum is focused on educating the public on energy production in Pennsylvania. It serves as a resource for making local opinions count. The forum is available to Pennsylvanians as a venue to help create balanced energy policies.
