Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy Recognizes 8 With Environmental Awards

The Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy in Montgomery County recently honored eight diverse contributors to a healthier watershed with a 2014 Environmental Award.

“It is our great pleasure to recognize these eight Environmental Award recipients for their outstanding hard work and contributions to conserving and restoring the Perkiomen Creek Watershed,” said Garrett Burch, Conservancy Board member.  “We are inspired by their passion and drive to protect and improve the natural resources of our region.”

Each year, the Conservancy seeks Environmental Award nominations, and nominees or their work must be located within the 362 square-mile Perkiomen Creek Watershed.  Recipients are determined by selection committee.

Marking a major milestone this year, the Conservancy celebrates its 50th anniversary.

“The 2014 Environmental Award recipients are notable not only for what they have accomplished but for what their achievements taken together mean for our community and the future of environmental stewardship in the watershed,” said Burch.

Environmental Awards were presented at the Conservancy’s Environmental Awards Banquet & 50th Anniversary Celebration on October 22 at RiverCrest Golf Club and Preserve.  Over 240 guests in attendance enjoyed cocktails, dinner, a silent auction and awards presentations to publicly recognize the award recipients.

The event was sponsored by Premier Sponsors Exelon Generation and First Niagara as well as Supporting Sponsor Superior Tube Company
