Runners, Walkers Sought For Grey Towers’ 8K April 23 In Pike County

Registration is now open for participants in the Grey Towers Heritage Association 8K Run/Walk planned for April 23 in Pike County. Participants at all levels of expertise are encouraged to take part in this annual springtime season kick-off.

Organized by the Grey Towers Heritage Association and the U.S. Forest Service at Grey Towers, the race will start and end at Grey Towers and include parts of the Pinchot Greenway in the Borough of Milford and the Milford Beach in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Please note that runners will be running on open streets and a portion of the race is along a dirt road. Course monitors will be in place to ensure safe street crossings.

Winter warm-up practice walks along the course are planned for Thursdays at 10 a.m., beginning February 25. Contact the GTHA for information or to sign up for those.

This is a certified USATF 8K course. Entry and Chronotrack Fees: Adult Pre-Registration: $25 (+Fees) before April 1; Entries: $30 (+Fees) after April 1; Youth 17 and under: $15 (+Fees); children under 12 (accompanied by an adult): $5 Awards will be given to the top placed runners in each age category (Male and Female):14 and under; 15-20; 21-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+

This is the fourth year that GTHA is organizing this event. Last year’s participation was so successful the event is being improved and repeated! Proceeds will be used to help the US Forest Service preserve and protect the massive and historic European Copper Beech trees on the estate grounds.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are sought to help on the course or at Grey Towers. The Grey Towers mansion will be open for brief walk-through visits on the morning of the race.
