The PA Resources Council annual ReuseFest 2016 presented by UPMC is a drop-off event for used household goods and other items destined for reuse by Pittsburgh-area nonprofit organizations.

This year it will be held on June 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Jefferson Middle School, 21 Moffett Street, Mt. Lebanon, Allegheny County..

“This one-of-a-kind collection event provides area residents with an opportunity to responsibly donate a variety of unwanted but still usable items to multiple local nonprofits at one convenient location,” according to PRC Regional Director Justin Stockdale.  “All materials donated at ReuseFest will be reused in some fashion, whether resold, repurposed or given to those in need in our region and around the world.”

“During the past four events, PRC has collected and diverted tens of thousands of pounds of materials from local landfills,” said Stockdale.  “Items donated and reused to benefit the local community have included everything from canes, crutches and wheelchairs to cat carriers, light fixtures and literally the kitchen sink.”

Nonprofits collecting materials at the 2016 event will include Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center, Catholic Charities, Most Wanted Fine Art, Construction Junction, Global Links, and  Off the Floor Pittsburgh.

New this year, Catholic Charities representatives will be on site at ReuseFest to collect baby supplies (diaper bags, collapsible strollers, portable playpens, high chairs), bedding & bath supplies (blankets, comforters, twin/full sheet sets, shower curtains/rods/hooks, bath towels) and kitchen supplies (sets of dishes/glassware/silverware, pots and pans, mixing bowls, cookie sheets, kitchen towels, utensils).
