Photo

For the geologic tourist, Pennsylvania offers any number of ways to pursue your happiness — trails lined with points of geologic interest, hikes and drives to scenic vistas, waterfalls, rock cities, boulder fields, and other geologic wonders.

If you are looking for a new favorite place to visit, there are resources to help you find it:

-- View maps, photos, and information about outstanding geologic features;

-- Peruse DCNR’s story maps to see a selection of the top waterfalls, outstanding geologic features, and National Natural Landmarks;

-- Take a hike along the Northern Extension of the York County Heritage Rail Trail using the hot-off-the-press geologic trail guide;

-- Take a geologic paddling trip using our geology guide to the Yellow Breeches Creek from Messiah College to McCormick Road; and

-- 30 Outstanding Geologic Features in Pennsylvania.

The last two guides are currently downloadable from the geology publications section on the DCNR website.

This fall, launch a new venture outdoors that is educational and fun.
