Brodhead Watershed Assn: 4 Organizations Support Watershed Celebration Sept. 30
The Brodhead Watershed Association Friday announced Papillon & Moyer Paving & Excavating has donated $3,000 to Brodhead Members & Friends Celebration, to be held September 30 at Northampton Community College, Tannersville, Monroe County.
Dave Moyer, president of Papillon & Moyer, was glad to assist BWA in its mission and to honor Craig for his valuable work over the years.
Brodhead Watershed Association, led by President Ann Foster, is grateful for the generosity of all celebration sponsors.
This event, held annually to celebrate the members and friends of the BWA and to honor people dedicated to protecting local water quality, will highlight East Stroudsburg resident Craig Todd’s (photo) exceptional commitment to maintaining a healthy environment for future generations.
Monroe County Planning Commission will also be honored for its work on BWA’s Green Infrastructure Project.
“Protecting water resources benefits us all,” Foster said. “Clean water is essential for a healthy community and our local economy. The BWA is proud of its members and sponsors for their ongoing support of our essential work.”
Andy Johnson, director of the Delaware River Watershed Initiative at the William Penn Foundation, will be keynote speaker, talking about how BWA’s work fits into the bigger picture of protecting the Delaware River for future generations.
BWA, a nonprofit environmental organization, formed in 1989 as a group of individuals and business owners dedicated to ensuring clean water in Monroe County.
For more than a quarter of a century, BWA’s volunteer Streamwatchers have been testing water quality in the Brodhead, Cherry, Marshalls, McMichael, Paradise and Pocono creeks and their tributaries.
The September 30 event is sold out, but those interested in the work of BWA can get more information by visiting the Brodhead Watershed Association website or by calling 570-839-1120. Click Here to sign up for regular updates from the Association.
