The Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee Wednesday released its 2016 Annual Report on its activities.

Over the last year, the Committee has: reviewed the Covered Device [Electronic Waste] Recycling Act, reinvigorated the Legislative Forestry Task Force, participated in the Governor’s Green Ribbon Forestry Task Force, toured Hawk Mountain, the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor and the Pike2Bike and the Abandoned Turnpike Tunnel project which link nature to recreation and tourism and held four Environmental Issue Forums on a variety of topics.

As the Committee looks forward, it anticipates becoming involved in Pennsylvania’s reaction to changing federal priorities with the new administration, electronic waste recycling, invasive species and their effects on forests, the decline in the number of nuclear power plants, drinking water quality and state wildlife management.

A copy of the report is available online.

Sen. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango) serves as Chair of the Joint Conservation Committee.
