Trout Unlimited is seeking individuals to fill Biological Field Intern positions from mid-May to August to be based out of the TU field office in Lock Haven, Clinton County.  The deadline for applications is March 22.

TU’s Pennsylvania Coldwater Habitat Restoration Program targets the improvement of coldwater habitat viability and availability for native brook trout across the Commonwealth.

To accomplish this, TU staff work to improve water quality through abandoned coal mine cleanup; reduce nonpoint source sediment pollution through streambank stabilization, riparian reforestation, installation of instream habitat structures, and improvement of dirt and gravel roads; increase flood resiliency and aquatic organism passage through addressing problematic road-stream crossings.

Duties and responsibilities include--

-- Collect field data through activities such as electrofishing, benthic macroinvertebrate surveys, water quality sampling, and fish habitat surveys.

-- Provide data entry and database management, as well as prepare maps and assist with reports.

-- Attend meetings of TU chapters, watershed groups, and other partnering groups as needed.

-- Provide assistance to other program staff as needed.

Interns will be compensated with a stipend of $4,300 for a 12 week term.
