The Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration is challenging teams of K-12 students to answer this question in a 3-minute video, “Why is mining important in our lives?” in the Move Mining Next Gen Contest to win cash prizes of up to $1,000.

The deadline for entries is November 1.

This competition is the perfect way to encourage a child you know to think critically about the world around them and encourage them to explore how the things they use every day are made.

By applying STEM skills, creativity, teamwork and research, the Move Mining Next Gen competition will challenge students in a fun and competitive way.

For all the details, and resources to help students with the videos, visit the Move Mining Next Gen website.
