Penn State Extension will host two Drinking Water Clinics for owners of private water wells on April 11 in Doylestown, Bucks County.  The same Clinic will be presented at 1:00 and 6:00 p.m.

These Clinics are designed for people who manage a private drinking water supply. 

They'll cover how to test and protect your well or spring, and when water treatment might makes sense.  They will also discuss well and spring system inspection and maintenance so you know how to protect your family, your property, and the groundwater we share.

Free water testing is frequently offered to a limited number of households at these workshops. Call or email the instructor listed for the event you plan to attend to confirm if testing will take place. See the instructor tab for this contact information for the event you want to go to.

Testing for any of the following may be offered: bacteria, pH, total dissolved solids, and nitrate nitrogen. Test results are not official, but are instead offered to help participants decide how soon they should consider additional testing by a state accredited laboratory. 

At a minimum, Penn State recommends testing every 12-14 months for bacteria (total coliform and E.coli. bacteria), and every three years for pH and total dissolved solids.

Support for these workshops is provided by the Master Well Owner Network grant from the Department of Environmental Protection and the PA Ground Water Association.
