The House Wednesday adopted House Resolution 990 sponsored by Rep. Park Wentling (R-Crawford) to declare July Lake Appreciation Month.

“Pennsylvania's landscape is home to more than 1,500 lakes, ponds and reservoirs. These lakes and ponds are critical resources to Pennsylvania's environment and quality of life, providing sources of recreation, scenic beauty and habitat for wildlife,” said Rep. Wentling.

“Lakes are valuable economic resources for Pennsylvania businesses, tourism and municipal governments, with uses ranging from flood control and other agricultural purposes to water supply,” Rep. Wentling added.  “Maintaining the health of our lakes is the responsibility of every citizen. Pennsylvania recognizes the need to protect these lakes and ponds for future generations.”
