The Brodhead Watershed Association will hold its 30th Annual Members & Friends Celebration, a popular annual gathering of local environment-minded people, September 13 at Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort in Shawnee-on-Delaware, Monroe County.

This year, the event honors state Rep. Maureen Madden (D-Monroe) with the John Riley Friend of the Watershed Award for her environmental work, which includes protection of clean drinking water.

The evening will feature keynote speaker Maya K. van Rossum, longtime leader of the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, who will discuss how legislative environmentalism has failed communities across America, environmental constitutionalism, and how people can take action in their communities.

“The BWA dinner has become the place for conservation-minded folks to celebrate advocating for clean water,” said BWA Executive Director Bob Heil.  “This year, we celebrate 30 years of good work and build toward the future, continuing to protect our natural resources with support from our members and the community.”

Supporting the BWA’s mission are Vigon International, BioSpectra, Sanofi and PPL Foundation, each contributing $3,000 as Watershed Sponsors to make the evening a success.

“We are pleased at the many acts of generosity and community support we have received in support of this milestone in BWA history,” said event organizer Rob Sedwin.

The event will include a silent auction, dinner buffet, hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and a cash bar.

The public is invited to attend. Tickets cost $45 for BWA members, $65 for nonmembers (which includes new membership in BWA).
