There were 68 submissions throughout 22 total public, parochial and private schools in a 10-county region that entered for the 2019 – 2020 Academic Year.

The goal of the Challenge is designed to encourage students and teachers in Southwestern Pennsylvania to learn about the effects of air pollution, how to reduce their exposure, and to encourage action through a poster campaign promoting clean air and alternative transportation.

“By creating artwork, students have an opportunity to share important messages about decreasing air pollution and increasing alternative transportation,” said Sarah Alessio Shea, PRC Collection Events Manager.  “We’re excited to celebrate these students and share their amazing artwork for the public to view online, bringing some color, beauty and important environmental messaging into people lives.”

“For the tenth school year, students were challenged with creating posters to educate the public, and again they did an amazing job of visually depicting their thoughts and perspectives,” according to SPAQP Chair Betsy Mallison.

Students created posters using a variety of art media including watercolor, pen and ink, crayon, marker and charcoal.
