Senate/House Bills Moving Last Week

The following bills of interest saw action last week in the House and Senate--

House

State Park Veterans Discount: House Bill 1311 (Murt-R-Montgomery) providing for veterans a discount on State Park activity fees (sponsor summary) was reported from the Tourism and Recreational Development Committee and referred to the House Rules Committee as all bills are this time of year.

Mining & Reclamation Committee: House Bill 2219 (James-R-Venango) would add a member of the coal refuse energy industry to the Mining and Reclamation Advisory Board was amended and reported from the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and referred to the House Rules Committee as all bills are this time of year.

Plastics Recycling: House Bill 1808 (Mackenzie-R-Lehigh) promoting the advanced recycling of plastics from post-consumer waste was reported from the House Rules Committee and re-reported to the House Appropriations Committee.  Read more here.

Senate

Fish & Boat Fees: House Bill 808 (Mehaffie-R- Dauphin) authorizing the Fish and Boat Commission to adopt its own fees until July 15, 2022 was amended and reported out of the Senate Appropriations Committee (House Fiscal Note & Summary), passed by the Senate and concurred in by the House.  The bill now moves to the Governor for his action.

Low-Head Dam Safety: House Bill 1003 (Gillespie-R-York) further providing for marking and safety at low-head dams  and reported out of the Senate Appropriations Committee (House Fiscal Note & Summary), passed by the Senate and concurred in by the House.  The bill now moves to the Governor for his action.

Land Trusts:  Senate Bill 881 (Martin-R-Lancaster) setting aside state farmland preservation funding for local land trusts (sponsor summary) was reported out of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Wind Energy:  House Bill 441 (Sonney-R-Erie) allow wind energy facilities in Agricultural Security Areas (House Fiscal Note & Summary) was reported out of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and re-referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Pedestrians/Bike Lanes: Senate Bill 565 (Farnese-D-Philadelphia) providing for additional parking regulations to protect pedestrian plazas and pedalcycle lanes (sponsor summary) was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
