On December 18, the PA Council of Trout Unlimited announced it is now accepting applications for the Coldwater Heritage Partnership’s Coldwater Conservation Grant Program.  Applications are due February 15.

Trout Unlimited chapters, watershed associations, conservation districts, conservancies, and municipalities are among those eligible to apply. Proposals for planning grants up to $5,000 and implementation grants up to $8,000 will be accepted.

“After a year that none of us could have previously imagined, the Coldwater Heritage Partnership is looking forward to reviewing project proposals for the coming year,” said Rachel Kester, Program Director for the Coldwater Heritage Partnership program. “Now, more than ever, folks are taking to local streams to fish, paddle, and enjoy other outdoor recreation. The CHP program helps make sure our coldwater resources are there to enjoy both now and into the future.”

CHP grants are made possible with financial assistance from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources through a Community Conservation Partnerships Grant Program and through funding from the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds.

The Coldwater Heritage Partnership is a collaboration between PATU, DCNR, the Fish and Boat Commission, and the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds.

For more information, visit the Coldwater Heritage Partnership website.

The site now features an interactive map and searchable list of plans and projects that will aid grantees in locating existing plans and projects and identifying potential new projects in their watershed of interest.

Applicants are encouraged to contact CHP Program Director, Rachel Kester, to discuss potential projects prior to applying. She can be reached at 814-577-7611 or by email at c-rkester@pa.gov.
