Here are the Senate and House Calendars for the next voting session day and Committees scheduling action on bills of interest as well as a list of new environmental bills introduced--

House (June 7):  House Bill 763 (B-Miller-R-Lancaster) would require PennDOT to develop a list of native vegetation species that can be used in roadside work that is done throughout the state;  House Resolution 106 (Benninghoff-R- Mifflin) ending some waivers of some of the hundreds of regulations, requirements during Pandemic emergency, but keeping others <> Click Here for full House Bill Calendar.

Senate (June 7):  Senate Bill 435-- encouraging the development of clean transportation infrastructure to support electric, natural gas and hydrogen vehicles;  Senate Bill 597 (Stefano-R- Fayette) would impose conflicting and expensive requirements on small water and wastewater systems for no benefit to their customers and if they can’t comply they would come under the regulation of the Public Utility Commission Read more here. <> Click Here for full Senate Bill Calendar. 

 

Committee Meetings  This Week

House: the Environmental Resources & Energy Committee meets to consider House Bill 637 (Struzzi-R-Indiana) which takes away DEP’s authority to adopt carbon pollution reduction programs from power plants and any other source, House Bill 668 (James-R-Venango) which would add another member to DEP’s Mining and Reclamation Advisory Board representing the coal refuse energy industry [Read more here].   <>  Click Here for full House Committee Schedule. 

Senate: the Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee meets to consider Senate Bill 465 (Yaw-R-Lycoming, Comitta-D-Chester) which would establish an Agricultural Conservation Assistance Program (ACAP), providing funding and technical support to expand on-farm conservation practices throughout Pennsylvania, including high-priority areas such as the Chesapeake Bay Watershed [if funded] [Read more here].   <>  Click Here for full Senate Committee Schedule.

Bills Introduced

The following bills of interest were introduced last week--

Community Solar:  House Bill 1555 (Kaufer-R-Luzerne] authorizing community solar projects which allow neighbors, businesses, farms, and other community members to directly participate in and receive the benefits from a solar project connected to their local electric distribution company’s grid.  This is a companion to Senate Bill 472 (Scavello-R-Monroe).  Read more here.
