PA Resources Council: Final Hard-To-Recycle Collection Event This Year In Allegheny County Oct. 2
Photo

In October, the Pennsylvania Resources Council will host its final hard-to-recycle collection event of the season, providing area residents with one final opportunity to conveniently dispose of numerous items not suitable for curbside recycling.

The event will be held October 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Settlers Cabin Park Wave Pool, Allegheny County.

All participants must register in advance online or by calling 412-488-7490 x1.

Participants will pay a fee to dispose of some materials (such as televisions and tires) while other items (such as cell phones and computer towers) will be accepted for free.

For a fee, individuals can drop off televisions, computer monitors, printers, fluorescent tubes, small Freon appliances and tires (with and without rims).

At no cost, individuals can drop off cell/home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, etc.), expanded polystyrene packaging material, microwave ovens, video game consoles/DVD players and glass bottles, jugs and jars.

“To streamline the process at PRC events, we continue to require advanced registration for all attendees," according to PRC Deputy Sarah Alessio Shea.  "Out of an abundance of caution, we ask participants to pack all materials in their car trunks or truck beds and then stay in their vehicles while the contractor unloads the materials.”

The October event is the last of six PRC hard-to-recycle collections held throughout Allegheny County in 2021.

All are sponsored by Allegheny County Health Department, Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania, Colcom Foundation, Frazer Township, LANXESS, Pennsylvania American Water, and 100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA.
