Audubon Society Of Western PA, Buffalo Creek Watershed Coalition Host 6 Educational Programs At Buffalo Creek Nature Park In Butler County

The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania and the Buffalo Creek Watershed Coalition are hosting a series of six environmental education programs at ASWP’s new Buffalo Creek Nature Park, located at 154 Monroe Road, Sarver in Butler County.

Healthy Buffers Workshops

Vegetated areas around streams, called riparian buffers, are low-cost, simple ways to protect stream health and habitat quality.

In part 1 (October 19), participants will learn more about riparian buffers, and how to plan, plant, and maintain them.

In part 2 (October 26), participants will explore the variety of high-wildlife value native trees, shrubs, and perennial plants that can be used in riparian buffer plantings.

This program is open to everyone – one free tree per workshop is available for residents of the Buffalo Creek Watershed.

The Buffalo Creek region contains some of the highest quality habitat in western Pennsylvania. It is home to many species that are not commonly found. Come learn about some of these amazing species, their importance, and how they help us to understand the state of the watershed.
