DEP Invites Comments On Proposed Regional OTC Nitrogen Oxide Standards For Waste Combustors

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the May 14 PA Bulletin inviting comments on nitrogen oxide emission reduction measures from municipal waste combustors proposed by the Northeast Ozone Transport Commission.

The proposal would require member states, if adopted, to implement control measures that include updating facility-specific RACT standards for waste combustors, update presumptive RACT standards and other specific measures.

The Commission held stakeholder meetings in December, January and March on this issue.  A report on the stakeholders meetings is available online as well as a comment/ response document.

Public comments are due May 29.

The Ozone Transport Commission is due to consider the proposed control measures at its annual meetings on June 1 and 2.
