Senate Environmental Committee To Hold Sept. 19 Info Meeting On Carbon Capture Technology

The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee is scheduled to hold an informational meeting September 19 on carbon capture technology and related legislation.

In April, Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming), Majority Chair of the Committee, announced his intention to introduce legislation to promote carbon capture, utilization and sequestration.  The legislation would create a legal and regulatory framework for carbon dioxide capture and sequestration (CCS) projects in the state.  Read more here.

The legislation hasn’t been introduced yet.

The September 19 meeting will feature remarks by--

-- Ramez Ziadeh, Acting Secretary, DEP

-- Adam Walters, Senior Energy Advisor, DCED

-- Dr. Gale Blackmer, Director DCNR’s Bureau of Topographic & Geologic Survey

-- Matt Mangum, Carbon Capture & Storage Business Opportunity Manager, Shell

The meeting will be held in Room 8E-B East Wing of the Capitol building starting at 10:00 a.m.
