PA Resources Council October Schedule Of Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Locations In Western PA; Seeking Partners For 2023

The Pennsylvania Resources Council Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program provides a free recycling service that rotates through a variety of locations in western Pennsylvania.

This innovative program provides residents with a higher quality glass recycling option than typical curbside programs, ensuring that glass deposited into the bin meets the highest standards and can be fully recycled.

The locations for PRC Traveling Glass Recycling Bin weeklong engagements in October are--

-- October 1 – 6: Hermitage, Lawrence/Mercer Counties, 541 Mercer Avenue (across from Morefield Cemetery), Hermitage, PA 16148 hosted by City of Hermitage

-- October 15 – 20: Findlay Township, Allegheny County, 1058 Clinton Road, Clinton, PA 15026 hosted by Findlay Township

-- October 22 – 27: North Park, Allegheny County, Swimming Pool parking lot hosted by Allegheny County

“The bin visits various locations on a weekly basis from Saturday through Thursday, typically from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and provides residents with a safe method for recycling glass while eliminating the need to interact with other individuals,” according to Ashley DiGregorio, PRC Recycling Markets and Grants Manager.

Individuals can drop off glass bottles, jars and jugs of all colors (no color sorting required).  Containers should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on.  Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be discarded off-site.

PRC’s Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program is sponsored by Owens-Illinois, Inc. and CAP Glass and is made possible through a partnership with Michael Brothers Hauling & Recycling.

Seeking 2023 Partners

Municipalities interested in hosting PRC’s Traveling Glass Recycling Bin in 2023 can contact PRC at glass@prc.org or the Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program webpage to learn how to partner with PRC to establish a program to enable residents to recycle glass.

“PRC is continually seeking local government and commercial partners to help revitalize glass recycling through regional collaboration,” said DiGregorio.  “Our municipal partners recognize that recycled glass is in high demand and wish to maintain vital recycling collection services for their residents, while business partners become increasingly aware of the multiple economic and environmental benefits of our program.”
