EQB Meets Nov. 15 On Final Radiation Safety, NPDES Compliance Schedule Regulations; Brodhead Creek Rulemaking Petition

The Environmental Quality Board is scheduled to meet November 15 on final radiation safety and NPDES Water Quality Compliance regulations.

Also on the agenda is a rulemaking petition asking the EQB to redesignate a segment of Brodhead Creek in Monroe County an Exceptional Value stream.

The final Radiation Protection regulation updates Chapters 225 and 228 related to industrial radiographic operations and radiation safety requirements for particle accelerators and enacts a new Chapter relating to safety requirements for X-ray equipment of various types.

The final NPDES Water Quality regulation establishes a schedule of compliance for a permittee with combined sewer overflow discharges to meet state water quality standards.

Oil & Gas Well Bonding

The Board may also hear an update on the status of DEP’s review of DEP’s review of rulemaking petitions proposing increases in the well plugging bonding amounts for conventional and unconventional oil and gas wells.  Read more here.
