South Mountain Partnership Action Alert: Support Needed For New Michaux State Forest District Resource Center In Franklin County: Attend May 1 Commissioners Meeting

The South Mountain Partnership is requesting citizens to support the new Resources Management Center proposed for Michaux State Forest District to replace the current District Office in Franklin County.

The chosen site is State Forest property that is currently leased to the South Mountain Golf Course.

The new RMC will improve services in the South Mountain Conservation Landscape by better serving district forest needs, residents, and visitors.

As a gateway to the forest, the new RMC will enhance forest user engagement and serve as a teaching and demonstration center for residents and visitors.

Unfortunately, Michaux State Forest’s decision is being challenged. Please join us in showing support for their decision!

See why Michaux chose this location (and we support it) in this FAQ document.

The Partnership asks citizens to--

-- Attend May 1 Franklin County Commissioners meeting with State Forester Seth Cassell at 10:00 a.m. in Chambersburg.  Click Here to sign up.

-- Sign on as a supporting Partner here (we will share your name/organization with our comments)

-- Write a short supporting statement to the Franklin County Commissioners (this can be done even if you don’t live in Franklin County) via the form.  Consider also reaching out to Adams and Cumberland Commissioners.

-- Share your statement of support with Governor Josh Shapiro here.
