Game Commission 2008 Calendar on Sale Now

As Pennsylvanians plan for the holiday gift-giving season, the Game Commission unveiled its 2008 calendar, priced at $8.95 (plus tax and shipping), available in "The Outdoor Shop" on the agency's website and at all Game Commission offices.

The 2008 calendar provides a listing of approved season dates from January 1-June 30, and tentative season dates for July 1-December 31, as well as a reminder about National Hunting and Fishing Day in September.

The 2008 calendar features a year's worth of dramatic wildlife photos taken by current and retired agency employees, including: Willard C. Hill, retired Game Lands Management Supervisor in the Southcentral Region; Timothy C. Flanigan, retired Bedford County Wildlife Conservation Officer; Jacob Dingel, radio dispatcher in the Northwest Region Office; Coy D. Hill, retired Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer from Fulton County; and Lori Richardson, Wildlife Conservation Education Specialist in the Harrisburg headquarters.

Each month features a full-color photo of a different wildlife species. This year's subjects are: a gray squirrel; a redhead duck; a common snipe; a great blue heron; a ruffed grouse; a beaver; a trio of barn owls; a groundhog; a bugling male elk silhouetted against a cloudy sky; a white-tailed buck rubbing its antlers; a Canada goose preparing to land; and a flying bald eagle.

The calendar also provides a brief overview of the Game Commission and a list of contact information for the agency's Harrisburg headquarters and six region offices.
